Lamwo woman found dead near bar

Police have collected evidence from the scene and taken statements from witnesses to aid their inquiries.

Lamwo: A 32-year-old woman, Apiyo Sarah, from Luyoro Village, Bungu Parish, Paloga Subcounty, has been found dead in a case of suspected murder.

Her body was discovered opposite a bar in Ngomoromo Subcounty, sparking police investigations.

The incident was reported by Okello Moses, a resident of Alot-Onekonga Village in Lokung Subcounty.

According to Inspector of Police Oloya Joe, the Acting Regional Police Spokesperson for Aswa East, the deceased had been called by a man, Owachgiu Peter, on November 1, 2024, to discuss buying produce.

The two eventually met on Monday, November 25, 2024, at Lacwec Bar in Ngomoromo Parish. It is believed that Apiyo Sarah met her death that same evening.

Following the discovery of the body, police have arrested Owachgiu Peter, aged 30 and Okot Janani to aid in investigation.

The body of the deceased was transported to Padibe Health Center IV for a postmortem.

Lamwo District RDC, Mr. Komakech William, confirmed the arrests and reassured the public of police efforts to uncover the truth. “We urge the community to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement during this ongoing investigation,” he stated.
