Relief as Arua Regional Referral Hospital gets an ICT lab
The total cost of all these ICT hubs is 165 million Ugandan shillings.
Arua: The installation of an ICT lab at Arua Regional Referral Hospital is a significant step toward improving healthcare services in the West Nile region.
The ICT hub aims to assist medical workers in various ways, including job applications, interviews, and exams.
Victor Waiswa, the ICT officer from the health service commission, highlights that the installed equipment includes six computers, a printer, laptop covers, and a Wi-Fi router.
The goal is to streamline administrative tasks and enhance efficiency for health workers.
Professor Pius Okwong, the chairperson of the health service commission, emphasizes that health workers previously faced challenges due to document-related issues.
With the new ICT lab, they can now handle tasks within the Arua regional referral hospital itself, reducing the need to travel to Kampala.
Dr. Asiimwe Iyan, the hospital director, recognizes the timely nature of this initiative. It will alleviate the stress of long-distance travel for health services.
Anite Joyce, a senior nursing officer, expresses excitement about the extended services, adding that the lab will also facilitate research for nurses within the hospital.
Arua’s ICT hub is part of a larger plan. Seventeen such hubs will be installed across regional referral hospitals.
The total cost of all these ICT hubs is 165 million Ugandan shillings.
