Kitgum district PLU ready for Acholi subregion endorsement launch
Robinson said the Kitgum District PLU leadership will participate fully in the regional launch before rolling out the endorsement and enrollment exercise at the grassroots.
Kitgum: The Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) leadership in Kitgum District has resolved to participate fully in the Acholi Subregion launch of Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s 2031 presidential endorsement exercise, scheduled for Monday, 28th September 2026, at Taks Centre in Gulu City.
The resolution was reached during a joint executive planning meeting held on Thursday, 24th September 2026, at the Kitgum District Resident District Commissioner’s (RDC) office.
According to the Kitgum District PLU Coordinator, Onencan Robinson, who also hold PO 173 number, the regional launch follows an engagement between PLU leaders from Acholi Subregion and the PLU Secretariat at the party headquarters in Naguru earlier this week.
The Acholi delegation was led by the PLU Acholi Subregion Coordinator, Hon. Ojara Martin Mapenduzi, while the Secretariat was represented by the General Secretary, Hon. Twalla Fadil.
Robinson said the Kitgum District PLU leadership will participate fully in the regional launch before rolling out the endorsement and enrollment exercise at the grassroots.
He further said Hon. Lillian Aber, Kitgum District Woman MP, PLU Northern Regional Vice Chairperson and Minister of State for Relief, Disaster Preparedness and Refugees, facilitated the acquisition of endorsement books for the 156 sub-counties across the region.
He added that the endorsement exercise will subsequently be conducted at sub-county level, with Kitgum District expected to roll out the activity through PLU structures at sub-counties, town councils and Municipality divisions. The exercise will cover all 22 lower local government units in Kitgum District.
The Kitgum District RDC, Jimmy Ssegawa Ebil, expressed support and cooperation towards the exercise and said the district security leadership was prepared to support the successful conduct of the activity.
Kitgum District has a constituted PLU leadership appointed through the Secretariat and the leadership comprises: Onencan Robinson, District Coordinator, Lapyem Emmanuel, Vice Coordinator, Aciro Mercy, General Secretary, Labalpiny Stephen Oketa, Publicity Secretary, Latigo W. Calvin, PWDs Representative, Adokorach Susan, Women Representative, Owali Benedicto, Elders’ Representative and Watmon Derrick, Youth Representative
Recently, the PLU Chairman assigned official PO numbers to members of the Kitgum District leadership, with the District Coordinator receiving PO 173, the Vice Coordinator PO 179, and Komakech Walter Oyoo PO 175, among others.
