Kumi District, Uganda – The Deputy Resident District Commissioner (D/RDC) of Kumi District, Mr. Kyomya James, has called on students and community leaders to embrace patriotism and rally behind the National Resistance Movement (NRM) ideology as a foundation for Uganda’s continued development and stability.
Speaking during a one-week patriotism training program held at Kumi University, Mr. Kyomya delivered a compelling lecture to a diverse audience comprising students, university staff, secondary school patrons, and local leaders from across the district.
The training, which began on October 6, will conclude with a pass-out ceremony on Monday, October 13, 2025, to be officiated by Ms. Hellen Seku, Commissioner at the National Secretariat for Patriotism Corps (NSPC).
Participants were drawn from Kumi University, SOGAVI Institute of Technology, Kumi School of Nursing, all secondary schools in Kumi District, and local government leaders, including LC3 chairpersons.
Deputy RDC Kyomya commended the participants for their commitment to national service and extended special appreciation to Commissioner Hellen Seku for her continued coordination and support in implementing the program across the district.
In his address, Mr. Kyomya traced Uganda’s political journey, highlighting milestones achieved under the leadership of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, whom he described as a transformational leader. He emphasized the importance of protecting these achievements through sustained support for the NRM government.
He urged the trained patriots to support and vote for President Museveni in the upcoming 2026 general elections, act as ambassadors for government programs and patriotic values, and mobilize their communities in support of NRM leadership—from the village level to the national level.
“As trained patriots, I urge you to be torchbearers of positive information, mobilizers of the masses, and defenders of the values that have brought Uganda this far,” Mr. Kyomya stated.
Mr. Kyomya also outlined a structured rollout of patriotism training in Kumi District. In Term II of 2025, over 5,000 students from all secondary schools were trained. In Term III, the current focus is on universities and technical institutions. The next phase of the program will target community-level training, aiming to reach a broader population.
Reaffirming his role as a representative of the President, Deputy RDC Kyomya stressed the importance of ideological clarity and patriotic education.
“It is my cardinal duty, as a representative of H.E. the President, to implement the core principles of the NRM government and ensure our communities remain grounded in patriotism,” he said.
He reiterated his unwavering support for General (Rtd.) Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, praising his leadership as central to Uganda’s progress.
“Long live H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, National Chairperson of NRM and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces,” he concluded.
