Amlan Tumusiime withdraws from Bugahya County MP Race
He concluded by urging unity and continued collaboration for the development of the region.
Hoima: Amlan Tumusiime, the former Resident District Commissioner (RDC) for Kikuube District, has officially withdrawn from the Bugahya County Member of Parliament (MP) race.
Tumusiime, who lost the National Resistance Movement (NRM) primary elections to incumbent MP Pius Wakabi, announced his decision on Monday morning.
In an emotional statement issued from Nakasero Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment for prostate cancer, Tumusiime revealed that the decision was deeply personal and motivated by his current health condition.
“I have prayerfully decided not to contest for the office of the Bugahya Constituency MP. This decision was not easy, but it comes from a place of peace due to my health status and other many reasons,” he said.
Tumusiime emphasized that his immediate focus is on regaining strength and continuing to serve the people of Bunyoro and Uganda in other capacities.
“My priority is regaining my health and strength, so that I can continue to serve my people and country like I have always done. I also look forward to mobilizing support and votes for President Yoweri Museveni in the Bunyoro Sub Region and Uganda at large,” he added.
Expressing heartfelt gratitude, Tumusiime thanked all those who have supported him through this difficult period, especially those offering prayers and encouragement.
“Your prayers are my greatest medicine, and your love and encouraging words are the strength that keeps me hopeful every day,” he stated.
Tumusiime also extended a message of forgiveness and reconciliation. “To my people of Bugahya and beyond, I extend my deepest gratitude for the trust, love, and support you have shown me over the years. If I have wronged or disappointed anyone, I ask for your forgiveness and I also forgive those who may have wronged me.”
He concluded by urging unity and continued collaboration for the development of the region. “This is not a farewell. It is a call for us to unite in prayer, to lift each other, and to continue working together for the prosperity of Bugahya, Bunyoro, and Uganda. Leadership is not only found in office but also in how we stand with each other in times of need.”
