UG Decides 2026

Twinomugisha quits NRM, joins PFF

“In Uganda today, the rich and powerful are protected by the government while the poor and vulnerable are exploited and silenced,” she said.

Ntungamo: Former NRM Woman MP aspirant for Ntungamo District, Twinomugisha Winnie Ndiyo, also known as “Owa Work,” has officially crossed over to the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF), citing injustice, exploitation, and lack of accountability in the ruling government as key reasons for her departure.

Winnie made the announcement during the opening of PFF’s new offices in Ntungamo District, saying she could no longer support a system that, in her words, “protects the powerful and abandons the vulnerable.”

Winnie’s fallout with the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) began in 2023 after she alleged that she had been trafficked to Dubai under the false promise of a teaching job, a process she claimed cost her UGX 7 million.

She accused Ruhama East MP Benjamin Kamukama Katangura of facilitating the trafficking arrangement. Shocking videos of Winnie pleading for help from a trafficking detention center in Dubai circulated on social media, in which she claimed to be among several Ugandan women being prepared for sale.

In response, MP Kamukama denied the allegations, acknowledging that he helped her travel to the UAE but insisting that he never received money directly from her. He accused Winnie of trying to tarnish his reputation.

During her speech, Winnie expressed deep frustration with what she described as a system rigged against the poor. “In Uganda today, the rich and powerful are protected by the government while the poor and vulnerable are exploited and silenced,” she said.

She criticized widespread land grabbing, poor service delivery in health and education, and rising school fees, saying these issues have left ordinary citizens without dignity or opportunity.

“Government schools, including UPE institutions, are riddled with poor infrastructure and mismanagement. Health centers lack essential medicines, equipment, and quality care. It’s the poor who suffer the most,” Winnie noted.

Declaring her shift to the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF), Winnie said the move aligns with her values of justice, equality, and people-centered governance.

“I believe in the power of ordinary Ugandans to demand better. Joining PFF is my way of standing with the people. We must reclaim Uganda from those who exploit and oppress us.”

Winnie concluded by urging fellow Ugandans to join the struggle for freedom and justice, calling on citizens to rise above fear and reclaim their country.

“Let us unite and bring Uganda back to the hands of Ugandans,” she said.
