Zombo faithfuls urged to embrace Easter with Hope in Christ
“Easter’s message of hope is the message of life,” he said.

Zombo: As Christians around the world celebrated the resurrection of Jesus Christ this Easter Sunday, the faithful in Zombo were called upon to renew their hope in God amid life’s challenges.
Easter, which commemorates Christ’s victory over death, remains the cornerstone of the Christian faith—symbolizing salvation, rebirth, and the promise of eternal life.
Rev. Isaac Rwothomio, the Parish Priest of Paidha Town Parish under Goli Central Archdeaconry in Nebbi Diocese, delivered an uplifting message during the Easter service at St. Paul Church of Uganda in Mvungu, Paidha Town Council.
Preaching to a packed congregation, Rev. Rwothomio acknowledged the daily struggles faced by many, particularly poverty, but encouraged believers not to lose hope.
Drawing from Matthew 28:1–8, which tells of Mary Magdalene and the other Mary discovering the empty tomb, he themed his sermon “Christ’s Resurrection: Our Hope for Salvation.”
“Anchor your hope in God’s Word,” Rev. Rwothomio urged. “The resurrection of Jesus restored faith in the disciples. Let this Easter open your heart to God’s presence and transformative power in your life.”
The celebration was one of the most vibrant in recent memory, according to parishioners. St. Paul Church, serving as the headquarters of Paidha Town Parish, was filled to capacity prompting Catechist Jimmy Bidong to call for church expansion. He urged the development committee to prioritize building efforts to accommodate the growing congregation.
The Easter service featured joyful worship and a spirited choir performance, which many described as deeply uplifting.
Ivan Mungujakisa, a choir member, expressed his thoughts on the significance of the occasion:
“Easter’s message of hope is the message of life,” he said.
Easter Sunday, the pinnacle of the Christian calendar, marks the conclusion of Holy Week. It follows the reflective period of Lent and the solemn observances of Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, which commemorate the Last Supper and Jesus’ crucifixion, respectively.
The empty tomb, as described in Matthew’s Gospel, stands as a powerful symbol of hope and divine triumph over sin and death offering believers strength, joy, and a renewed sense of purpose.
