Zombo Acting DHO’s Car Involved in Serious Accident

This is not the first road incident involving Dr. Bramali.

Zombo: A man identified only as Ocaki, a resident of Ajigu Village in Oyeyu Parish, Nyapea Sub-County, Zombo District, was reportedly struck by a vehicle driven by the acting District Health Officer (DHO), Dr. Mark Bramali.

The incident occurred on March 16 at Namba Tanu Trading Center in Oyeyu Parish, leaving Ocaki critically injured. He was rushed to Holy Family Hospital Nyapea, where he remains hospitalized.

Eyewitnesses interviewed by this publication stated that Dr. Bramali was driving the car at the time of the accident.

An area councillor confirmed the incident, stating that it happened at around 10:00 PM.

“Ocaki was trying to cross the road when Bramali, who was driving from the Paidha direction, knocked him down,” the councillor explained. “His intestines were exposed, and we rushed him to the hospital in critical condition.”

Reports indicate that Dr. Bramali initially attempted to assist the victim but fled to Nyapea Police Post for safety when an angry mob gathered at the scene, threatening to attack him.

Fred Onenarach, chairperson of the Zombo District Boda Boda Association and a resident of Nyapea, confirmed the incident, adding that it has left the community in shock.

Constantine Omwon, the LCIII chairperson of Nyapea Sub-County, also confirmed that Ocaki was receiving treatment and promised to provide further updates on his condition.

Efforts to contact Dr. Bramali for a comment were unsuccessful, as he did not respond to calls made to his known telephone number.

However, Bruno Manano, the Assistant Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Zombo, confirmed that Paidha Central Police Station is investigating the case.

This is not the first road incident involving Dr. Bramali. Last year, he survived an accident when his car overturned on Ayuda Hill in Thanga Parish, Abanga Sub-County.

The incident has reignited calls from district councillors for the government to provide drivers for department heads to prevent such occurrences in the future.
