Victory High School students injured in accident after farewell party
“Those who show improvement by September 23rd will be discharged,”
Masindi: Eleven students from Victory High School in Masindi are currently receiving treatment for injuries at Masindi Kitara Health Centre following a serious road accident on Sunday night.
The incident occurred as the students were returning from a farewell party for candidate classes held at Kabalega Resort Hotel.
According to reports, the taxi , a drone-type vehicle with registration number UBY 203T veered off the road and overturned after the driver, who is currently on the run, lost control of the vehicle.
Speaking to UG Reports, Wilson Govule, a nurse on duty at Masindi Kitara Health Centre, said 13 students initially reported to the outpatient department in the early hours of September 22, 2025, at around 1:00 AM. Of those, 11 students were admitted for further medical care.
Govule confirmed that one of the injured students, Regean Okello, was referred to Hoima Regional Referral Hospital for a CT scan after showing signs of head injury, including persistent headaches.
X-rays conducted on the remaining students revealed that two of them had sustained fractures one with a broken tibia and fibula, and the other with a fractured arm. While pelvic X-rays for the other students returned normal results, some continue to experience pain and are under close observation.
“Those who show improvement by September 23rd will be discharged,” Govule added. “However, students with more serious injuries are scheduled for review by a surgeon, who will determine the need for possible surgical intervention.”
Efforts to get an official statement from Victory High School management were unsuccessful. Repeated calls to the head teacher and Resident Director Fred Nusinguzi went unanswered.
ACP Damalie Nachuha, the Albertine North Regional Police Commander confirmed the incident and stated that the injured students were immediately transported to the health centre for emergency care. “The vehicle has since been towed to the police station,” she added.
