Victims of lightning strike laid to rest in Lamwo  

The tragic incident also left three others in critical condition, who are currently receiving treatment at Paluda Health Center III.

Lamwo: The bodies of 14 victims from Saturday evening’s lightning strike in Zone 8, Block 2 of the Palabek Refugee Settlement, Lamwo District, were laid to rest on Sunday, November 3rd, 2024, in Zone 8, Block 4.

The tragic incident also left three others in critical condition, who are currently receiving treatment at Paluda Health Center III.

Lamwo District RDC Mr. Komakech William reported that, of the 48 individuals affected by the lightning strike, most of those initially hospitalized have now been discharged from Paluda Health Center III.

Inspector of Police Oloya Joe, the Acting PRO of the Aswa East Regional Police, confirmed the incident, noting that the victims were predominantly South Sudanese refugees.

The deceased, mostly from the Nuer Clan, included: Nyamaet Thiluak (17), Chaar Tot (18), Madol Wigjang (21), Nyachot Mawichnyuon (17), Nyakueh Gatgueng (15), Jima Gat Tiok (14), Tany Tai (12), Tidial Gatluak (16), Chop Matai Chop (15), Nyagai Diew (9), Nyathak Mariner (12), Lul Riek John (14), Khamis Tut (14), and Tura Betu (14).
