UPC to nominate candidates for key district, parliamentary seats

Kitgum: The Kitgum UPC Party has announced its nomination plans for the upcoming 2026 elections, highlighting Mr. Okelowange Joseph as their candidate for the Chua West Parliamentary Seat.
This announcement was made by Kitgum District UPC Chairperson Mr. Okwera Alfred during the burial of former party chairperson Mzee Guston Okello Otto on October 26, 2024.
Mzee Otto, a respected figure with a background as a police officer and district councillor, played a significant role in the community. In addition to Joseph’s nomination, UPC plans to nominate Mr. Labejah Bob Williams, a former NRM Mobilizer and RDC, for the Kitgum District LCV Chairperson position.
Okwera emphasized that UPC is gearing up for the elections and aims to field candidates for all available political positions in the district.
In the electoral landscape, Chua West County MP Hon. Okin PP Ojara is expected to face off against five candidates, while Kitgum Municipality’s Hon. Onekalit Denis Amere will contend with eight others, including a Minister.
Additionally, Kitgum District Woman MP Hon. Aber Lillian, who also serves as the State Minister for Relief, Disaster Preparedness, and Refugees, is preparing to face three competitors. In Chua East, MP Hon. Lamwaka Margret Odwar is set to compete against over eight candidates, including another Minister and a retired military general.
