Two women killed in Buliisa house fire

Buliisa: Police in Buliisa district are investigating circumstances under which two women were burned into ashes in a grass-thatched house.
The incident happened on Wednesday at around 3 a.m at the Kamagongolo landing site in Walukuba village, Butiaba Sub County.
The deceased have been identified as Jacklyn Bidongo, 40, and only Falling, 43, both residents of Sitini Village in Biiso Sub County. The duo were residing in the house belonging to one Magali, a resident of Kamagongolo landing site.
According to the LC1 Chairperson of Kamagongolo village, Mr. Fredrick Kazin, the incident happened when they were asleep. ‘’The incident happened when they were asleep, and it’s alleged that an unknown person locked the door and set the house on fire,’’ he said.
The owner of the house, only identified as Magali, told this publication that she was informed through phone calls at around 4 a.m. that she had left the house to one of the deceased to stay in.
‘’I had left the house to one of the deceased to stay in, but at around 4 a.m., I received a phone call that the house had been set on fire,’’ she explained.
We couldn’t get a comment from the Albetine Region Police Spokesperson, Julius Allan Hakiza, since his known number was unavailable at the time of publication.
