Two die in Gulu road accident

The driver of the motor vehicle fled the scene and remains on the run.

Gulu: Two people lost their lives instantly in a fatal road accident at Abera, Unyama Subcounty, Gulu District, on Wednesday. Their identities have yet to be confirmed.

According to ASP Ongom David Mudong, the Aswa West Police Spokesperson, it is alleged that a motorcycle rider, carrying one passenger, was traveling from Kitgum towards Gulu on a motorcycle with registration number UGA 472M.

Meanwhile, a vehicle with registration number UBC 107D, whose driver remains unknown, was traveling in the opposite direction from Gulu to Kitgum.

The driver reportedly swerved into the motorcycle’s lane, resulting in a deadly collision. Both the rider and the passenger died on the spot, with the impact throwing one victim into a bush and the other into a trench.

Ongom stated that the crime scene was visited by the Officer in Charge (OC) of Gulu District. The involved vehicles were later towed to the Gulu Central Police Station yard for further inspection.

The driver of the motor vehicle fled the scene and remains on the run.

The bodies of the deceased have been transported to the UPDF 4th Division Army Mortuary for postmortem examinations as investigations continue.
