TRAGIC! Lamwo man kills wife in domestic dispute
A manhunt for the suspect, Onek, is currently underway, and investigations are ongoing.

Kitgum, A tragic case of domestic violence has shocked the community of Lubiri Village, Abakadyak Parish, Aceba Subcounty, Lamwo District, after a man identified only as Onek allegedly murdered his wife, Aketowanga Prossy, on Tuesday morning.
The deceased, 18-year-old Aketowanga, was a pupil at Opoke Primary School in Opoke East Village, Madi Kiloc Parish, Padibe West Subcounty.
According to Aswa East Acting Police PRO, IP Oloya Joe, the couple had been cohabiting in Abakadyak until the night of February 24, 2025, when a serious misunderstanding erupted between them.
That night, Aketowanga called her mother, Laker Irene, reporting that Onek had threatened to kill her with a panga. Fearing for her life, she fled to her parents’ home in Opoke East Village the following morning, where she recounted the incident to her mother.
Shortly after, Onek followed her to her parents’ home, where her mother attempted to mediate the dispute. However, Onek allegedly continued issuing threats, warning Aketowanga that he would kill her if she refused to return with him.
Believing the situation had calmed, her mother left for a nearby trading center, leaving the two alone. Tragically, upon her return, she found her daughter lying dead inside the house.
Authorities responded promptly, with IP Oloya Joe confirming that the crime scene was examined and documented, and statements were recorded from witnesses. The body of the deceased was taken to Padibe Health Center IV for a postmortem examination.
