Tragic details emerge about an accident that claimed Kitara FC fan

Hoima: At least Kitara Football Club Fun died on the spot, and seven others were critically injured following an accident that occurred Friday evening along Hoima-Masindi Road.
According to an eyewitness, the accident involved the fans of Kitara FC when they were coming back from Masindi, where they beat Bright Stars 3-1.
They were traveling in a Toyota Wish car vehicle registration number UBG 458N, which veered off the road.
The eyewitness said that the accident happened at around 8:15 p.m. at Kakindo village in Bulindi Town Council Hoima district.
The injured have been rushed to Hoima regional referral hospital in critical condition.
Amos Kusetula, an intern doctor who has been in charge of the surgery department at Hoima Regional Referral Hospital, said one person died on the spot and seven were injured in the accident.
Kusetula identified the dead as Timothy Kyomuhendo, 18 years old, a resident of Busisi Hoima West Division, Hoima City.
He said five of them are stable and getting treatment, and the other two, who have critical conditions and are unstable, are still being worked on well.
Wycliffe Mugume Munyizi, the chairperson for Kitara FC fans, confirmed the accident. He attributed the accident to the over-speeding of the fans after winning the game against Bright Stars in Masindi.
Mugume appealed fans to avoid over-speeding and driving under the influence of alcohol.
The police regional spokesperson for the Albertine region, Allan Hakiza, confirmed the accident but could not give the details since he was waiting for the police officers who had visited the scene.
By press time, the body was still at the Hoima regional referral hospital mortuary.
