Thugs beat reveller to death in Arua

The police registered the case and transported the deceased’s body to Arua Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Arua: Police in Ayivu West Division, Arua City, are investigating a murder case that occurred on Thursday in Ewanyapa Cell, Komite Ward.

Collins Asea, the West Nile Regional Police Spokesperson, identified the deceased as John Izizing, 31, a resident of the same area.

The case was reported by Mr. Acema Augustino, the LCI Chairperson of Ewanyapa Cell, under SD REF: 05/13/02/2025 and is being investigated under CRB: 034/2025.

According to police reports, on the night of February 12, 2025, Izizing and his friends were enjoying leisure time at High Five Club.

In the early hours of February 13, 2025, at around 5:00 AM, Izizing and his friends left the club to head home. However, upon stepping outside, they encountered a group of unidentified thugs robbing a woman.

In an attempt to help the victim, Izizing and his friends intervened and managed to rescue the woman. They also managed to apprehend one of the suspected robbers, whom they locked inside the club, while the rest of the gang fled.

However, according to Asea, the gang regrouped and returned shortly after, launching an attack on the club by pelting stones in retaliation.

After the situation had calmed down, Izizing left the club around 5:30 AM to go home. Unfortunately, he was suspectedly waylaid by the same gang of thugs, who brutally beat him to death.

At around 6:50 AM, locals discovered his lifeless body and immediately reported it to the LCI chairperson, who then alerted the police.

The police registered the case and transported the deceased’s body to Arua Hospital for post-mortem examination.

The West Nile Regional Police have launched investigations into the murder and are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward.

“We encourage members of the public with vital information about this case to assist our investigation team. We remain committed to ensuring the safety and security of the people,” Asea stated.
