Thieves steal computers from Namboko Seed Secondary School

The stolen equipment was part of the school’s limited ICT infrastructure meant to support digital learning.

Namisindwa: Unknown thugs broke into the computer laboratory of Namboko Seed Secondary School on Monday night, making away with eight computers, in what school authorities and district officials have described as a major setback.

Mr. Amos Masibo, chairperson of the school’s board of governors, expressed deep disappointment over the incident, especially since it occurred shortly after the school welcomed a new headteacher.

“This theft is not only discouraging but also a blow to the progress we hoped to make with the new leadership in place. We urge the authorities to investigate thoroughly and recover the stolen property,” Mr. Masibo said.

Mr. Nabboge Bosco, the Assistant Resident District Commissioner (ARDC) for Namisindwa, condemned the burglary, calling it an attack on education.

He confirmed the arrest of two security guards, identified as Khaloma Rogers and Sitsangi Sefu, who were on duty at the time of the incident. The two are currently being held to assist with ongoing investigations.

“We strongly condemn this act. More suspects are still at large, and our teams are working around the clock to trace and interrogate them,” Mr. Bosco said.

Authorities have launched a manhunt for additional suspects as part of the broader investigation into the break-in.

The stolen equipment was part of the school’s limited ICT infrastructure meant to support digital learning. The theft is likely to affect computer studies and other technology-based programs at the school.
