Six summoned over Kagadi protest that claimed one

Kagadi: Police in Kagadi district have summoned six individuals over the protest that later resulted in the death of one.
The protest that was staged on February 28, 2024, led to the death of a Boda-Boda cyclist identified as Tuhaise Magezi, a cyclist in Muhorro town council who had joined his colleagues to demonstrate over a dilapidated 31 km of Muhorro-Ndaiga road.
In the incident that happened in the Igurika cell, Magezi was knocked dead by the double cabin No. UG-6998M belonging to the Kagadi Health Department, which had Kagadi Lc5 chairperson Ndibwami Yosia on board.
The driver, Stephen Tibihikira, was charged with reckless driving on Tuesday and remanded to Mambugu government prison until March 26, 2024.
In the wake of new developments in the incident, the Kagadi district CID Officer has summoned the country director of World Voices Uganda, Gad Benda to assist the police in its investigations, he also preferred charges of inciting violence against him.

The Kagadi Central Police Station CID Officer, Resty Maanda, told this publication that Benda was jointly summoned with the other six ring leaders of the demonstration, whom she declined to identify for fear of jeopardizing the investigations.
She advises the suspects to be cooperative in the investigation exercise.
Maanda further confirms that 17 people who were arrested on the demonstration day were all released on bond.
