Masindi: Masindi Deputy Resident Commissioner, Sanon Dhaala, has called for vigilance amongst the residents as security agencies try to contain the new wave of crime that hit the area recently.
Dhaala made the call on Monday while speaking to this publication at his office on Tuesday July 30, 2024.
He revealed that the new wave is where the criminals are using stones and metal bars to hit their targets before robbing them of their valuables.
The presidential representative, however, said that security mounted operations in which they have arrested several suspects, and some of them have been arraigned before court while others are still in custody as police process their case files.
Dhaala commended the community members for the support they have given to the security agencies in fighting the crime, and he appealed to them to continue with it in order to overcome the challenge in their area.
He also warned the organizers of the ongoing trade show in Masindi town and the parents against taking and allowing the children into the event beyond 6 p.m.
Dhaala also warned that a violation of this directive would automatically lead to the cancellation of the trade show.
