Buliisa: Residents of Kamagongolo Village in Butiaba Sub County Buliisa district have been left in shock and grief after three family members perished in a house fire.
The victims have been identified as Joel Bevin, aged 2, Blessing Ayirwoth, 7 years old, and Irene Akutu, 27, their mother.
According to Fredrick Kazini, the LC1 Chairperson for Kamagongolo Village, they saw a fire at around 11 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26, 2024.
He stresses that two children succumbed to fire while their mother passed on after being admitted to Buliisa district general hospital.
Abdullah Opio, the LC3 Chairperson for Butiaba Sub County, suspects someone has locked them in the grass-thatched house and set it ablaze since they found the door locked from outside.
Opio advises the public to desist from taking laws into their own hands, and in case of any misunderstanding, they should consult the area authorities and solve their grievances amicably.

Additionally, two women, Jackline Bidong (40) and Grace Faling (43), lost their lives in a house fire in Kamagongolo village, Walukuba parish, Butiaba sub-county, Buliisa district.
Another tragic incident involved a 5-year-old girl who was burned to ashes in a house fire in Katodio Cell, Wanseko Town Council, Buliisa district.
