The community continues to call for enhanced security measures to protect vulnerable groups like boda boda riders from such heinous acts.
Masindi: Tragedy has struck the residents of Kirasa Kisabao Cell in Central Division, Masindi Municipality, after the body of Geoffrey Kafua, 38, was discovered in a bush in Nyakalogi Kasambya Cell, Kigulya Division, on Sunday. His motorcycle remains missing.
Michael Onen, Kafua’s younger brother, said Kafua left for work on Thursday night but did not return home. Concern grew after repeated calls to his phone went unanswered, prompting the family to file a missing person report with the police.
Their search took a grim turn when a stranger answered Kafua’s phone, claiming to have found it inside a bloodstained jacket abandoned in a bush. This alarming discovery led to the eventual location of Kafua’s body.
Described as a calm and conflict-free person, Kafua worked as a boda boda cyclist at Kirasa Kampala and Rotary stages in Masindi Town. He is survived by his widow and five children.
Police transported the body to Masindi Hospital mortuary, but they have yet to provide a public statement on the case.
This incident follows another shocking murder in October when residents of Katugo Village discovered the beheaded body of businessman Ismail Naado, 31, in a sugarcane plantation in Kiruli Sub-County.
In light of these tragedies, Bernard Wandera, Chairperson of the Masindi Boda Operators Association (MAMAO), has urged boda boda operators to prioritize their safety by avoiding suspicious passengers and unfamiliar areas mostly during night hours.
The community continues to call for enhanced security measures to protect vulnerable groups like boda boda riders from such heinous acts.
