SAD! Masindi man found dead in stream

He was found with a torch in his hand, money, a bottle of waragi and cigarettes in his pocket.

Masindi: Shock engulfed the residents of Kamurasi cell, Nyangahya division, Masindi district on Thursday July, 18, 2024 after discovering their colleague dead in a stream.

The deceased has been identified as Hussein Kiiza, 50 years, also known as Red.

Kiiza was found with a torch in his hand, money, a bottle of waragi and cigarettes in his pocket.

According to Aisha Ayesiga, a daughter to the deceased, Kiiza visited her home last evening at 8pm while drunk but he later left for his home.

Ayesiga added that she heard people saying that someone had been found dead in the stream this morning only to discover that it was her father.

She suspects that her father could have drawn in the stream on her way since he had no known grudge with anyone in the cell.

Haruna Mukasa, the secretary for defense in Kamurasi cell says the cause of Kiiza’s death had not been known since his body had no damage.

He described the deceased as a humble person who could drink and return home peacefully without causing any problem to anyone.

Simon Peter Ochitti, the officer in charge Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Masindi district, urged the community members to desist from excessive alcohol consumption, noting that the deceased could have drowned in the stream as a result of excessive alcohol.

He also appealed to the youths to avoid drinking alcohol at a young age since they are the feature leaders.

By press time police had picked Kiiza’s body from the scene and conveyed it to Masindi main Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
