SAD! Man beats brother to death in Masindi

He urged residents to seek peaceful ways of resolving disputes instead of resorting to violence that leads to unnecessary loss of life.

Masindi: Police in Masindi District are holding a man from Kirunda Village, Miirya Sub-county, for allegedly beating his brother to death during a domestic altercation.

The deceased has been identified only as Nyolonga, while the suspect is Olulu. The two brothers are said to have had a long-standing conflict over an undisclosed matter.

According to Livingstone Kyotamanya, the chairperson of Miirya Sub-county, the fatal incident occurred on Sunday during a traditional ceremony.

The fight reportedly began when the wives of the two brothers joined other women to collect firewood from a nearby bush, which angered Olulu. He allegedly questioned why his wife had gone, sparking a quarrel with his brother.

Kyotamanya said that when Nyolonga rebuked Olulu for complaining, the latter attacked him with punches and kicks, leading to his death on the spot.

The incident was reported to police, who retrieved the body and took it to Masindi Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination. Olulu was subsequently arrested and detained at Masindi Police Station.

ASP Solomon Mugisa, the Albertine North Region Community Liaison Officer, confirmed the incident and condemned the act, urging residents to seek peaceful ways of resolving disputes instead of resorting to violence that leads to unnecessary loss of life.
