SAD! Businessman shot dead in Jinja

As investigations continue, the body of the deceased has been taken to Jinja Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination.

Jinja: A businessman, Peter Muzira, aged 34, and a resident of Luzinga Village, Wankole Subcounty, Kamuli District, was shot dead by unknown assailants in Jinja District on March 13, 2025, at around 7:30 AM.

According to police reports, the attack occurred at a valley separating Luzinga and Buwenge Town Council. Muzira, who was traveling on a boda boda, was intercepted by suspects in a saloon car before being shot in the chest and leg, killing him instantly.

Kiira Regional Police Commander, SSP Charles Nsaba, has ordered a speedy joint security operation to track down those responsible for the murder.

According to SP James Mubi, the Kiira Region Police Spokesperson, Peter Muzira was traveling to Buwenge Town Council when the attack occurred.

The boda boda rider, who had earlier picked up a female passenger from Bubaale Trading Centre in Wankole Subcounty, later took Muzira as a second passenger.

Both the boda boda rider and the female passenger whose identities are being withheld to protect ongoing investigations are currently at CPS Buwenge, assisting police with critical information.

A rapid response team from Buwenge Police Station, led by DPC SP Oyee Morris, was deployed immediately. At the crime scene, police retrieved four cartridges and a hood, suspected to have been used by the attackers.

Additionally, the assailants stole all the deceased’s phones, his trousers, and boxers, suggesting a possible motive beyond just murder. Police have launched an intensive tracking operation to identify and arrest the culprits.

Regional CID Officer, SSP Dr. Monday Johnson Agaba, has reassured the family, colleagues, and friends of the deceased that justice will prevail. He also urged anyone with credible information about the incident to volunteer it to the police.

“We strongly warn the assailants to surrender because evading justice is only temporary. The strong capacity of Kiira Region Police ensures that such dangerous and demanding cases are thoroughly handled,” Dr. Monday emphasized.

As investigations continue, the body of the deceased has been taken to Jinja Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination.
