SAD! Anthill crashes teenager to death in Kagadi

In the course of digging up the ant hill, the soil collapsed, covering the victim, and she died instantly.

Kagadi: The residents of Kyaterekera town council in Kagadi district have been filled with grief and shock following the tragic death of a 16-year-old teenager who died instantly after being buried by an ant-hill during a hunting activity.

The deceased has been only identified as Jason, a resident of Muzizi A cell in Kyaterekera town council, Kagadi district.

Asiimwe Baseka, the Muzizi A cell vice chairman, says the tragic incident happened on Sunday evening.

He narrates that the deceased, together with other boys, went in the wild to hunt an animal for meat. They chased their prey, and it entered an ant hill for hiding.

The boys gathered pangas and hoes and started excavating the ant hill to find the hiding animal. In the course of digging up the ant hill, the soil collapsed, covering the victim, and she died instantly.

Baseka says the deceased’s body was retrieved and taken for postmortem examination.

By press time, the deceased’s fellow hunters and the local leaders had recorded statements at the Kyaterekera police post.
