The body of the deceased, identified as Samuel Tusingwire, a resident of Omukikona in Kitaihuka Sub County, was discovered Thursday afternoon along Kakumiro Road in Mwitanzige Trading Centre, Kateebe LCI.

One resident suggested that the boy may have been a victim of mob justice, possibly in connection with theft, citing a rise in criminal activities in the area.

He urged authorities to intensify police patrols to curb lawlessness in Mwitanzige.

Kateebe LCI Chairperson Yonasan Kyalikunda called on residents to be more security-conscious in order to combat crime and promote peace in the community.

Meanwhile, ASP Ivan Kawooya, the Officer in Charge of Mwitanzige Police Station, condemned acts of mob justice, urging the public to report suspects to the police instead of taking the law into their own hands.

He confirmed that investigations have been launched to establish the circumstances surrounding Samuel’s death.

By the time of reporting, an autopsy had already been conducted, and one suspect had been arrested to assist with police investigations.

In relation to the above, Kibaale police are investigating the circumstances under which a 35-year-old man was killed following an alleged case of theft.

The deceased, identified as Emmanuel Ndizima, was a resident of Kahanami Village, Nyamarwa Sub-county, Kibaale District.

According to reports, in the early hours of January 31, 2025, Ndizima was caught red-handed by residents while allegedly stealing goats, prompting an irate mob to take the law into their own hands.

Sources indicate that the stolen goats belonged to his in-laws.

He was rescued by the village chairperson and rushed to Nyamarwa Health Center but was later transferred to Kibaale Health Center IV, where he was pronounced dead.

Kibaale District Police Commander Moses Kitamirike confirmed the incident and urged the public to refrain from mob justice, emphasizing the importance of following legal procedures.
