Resumption of Wanseko-Panyimur Ferry operations remains uncertain

However, he stressed that the reopening date remains uncertain.

Buliisa: The resumption of MV Albert Nile 1 Ferry operations between Panyimur landing site in Pakwach and Wanseko in Buliisa District remains uncertain.

Allan Ssempebwa, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Works, confirmed on Wednesday that the delay is due to ongoing efforts to mobilize resources for acquiring quality components and spare parts for the vessel.

Ssempebwa noted that maintenance was scheduled at a time when resources were limited, which has slowed down the process.

“By last week, our team was still conducting assessments on the vessel and preparing for the repairs, including mobilizing the necessary components, spare parts, and resources,” he stated.

However, he stressed that the reopening date remains uncertain.

Ssempebwa assured the public that the technical team is actively assessing the vessel to determine the required repairs and that the operations will resume soon.

“We ask travelers to remain patient and understand the temporary nature of this situation. Our team is working around the clock to resolve the challenge,” he said.

The MV Albert Nile 1 Ferry’s operations were suspended earlier this month after engineers identified defects requiring repairs to ensure passenger safety.

Recently, travelers at Wanseko landing site in Buliisa District were forced to cancel their journeys due to strong water waves and wind while the ferry remained under maintenance.
