RDC Angalia urges West Nile farmers to embrace commercial agriculture

Terego: Godwin Angalia Kasigwa, the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) for Terego, has called on farmers in the West Nile region to embrace commercial agriculture.
Speaking during the launch of road maintenance works in Terego district on Thursday, Angalia highlighted the improvements in infrastructure, particularly the road network, under the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government.
He encouraged farmers to take advantage of the better roads to transport their produce, thereby increasing their household income and contributing to improved food security.
“This government has improved infrastructure, particularly roads. I urge farmers to embrace commercial agriculture to improve both your income and food security in your homes,” Angalia appealed.
The event marked the commencement of the maintenance of three key roads in the district: the 10km Owaffa-Ejome road, the 5.1km Awania-Issa road, and the 5.4km Ajiraku-Oyea road. These roads, located in Aii-vu, Uriama, and Bileafe sub-counties, are set for crucial upgrades.
Angalia emphasized that these infrastructure improvements would enhance connectivity within the region and bolster cross-border trade. “These upgrades will significantly improve transportation of produce and support local economies,” he added.
The RDC also urged the district roads engineer to ensure that quality work is done, stressing that government investment in infrastructure aims to ease trade, improve communication, and elevate household incomes.
“Ensure that you do neat work because the government is investing in these roads to facilitate trade and communication, which will ultimately help improve household incomes,” he said.
The launch was attended by key local leaders, including the Deputy RDC (DRDC), the LCV Chairperson, the District Intelligence Security Officer (DISO), and technical staff, demonstrating a united commitment to the development of Terego district.
