President Museveni fulfills 20-cow pledge to Bulambuli landslide survivors

“For us as a cultural institution, anything that comes to our land to help alleviate the plight of our people is appreciated,” he said.

Bulambuli: President Yoweri Museveni has honored his pledge of providing 20 cows to survivors of the Bulambuli landslides, specifically to those resettled in the Bunambutye Resettlement Camp.

The spokesperson for Inzu Ya Masaba, Mr. Steven Masiga, confirmed to this publication that the cows, intended as a Christmas gift, have been safely delivered.

While acknowledging that the delivery did not involve cultural structures, Mr. Masiga expressed gratitude on behalf of the cultural institution.

“For us as a cultural institution, anything that comes to our land to help alleviate the plight of our people is appreciated,” he said.

President Museveni had made the pledge during a recent visit to the Bugisu region, promising to support the landslide victims as part of ongoing efforts to aid those affected by natural disasters.

Mr. Masiga noted that as representatives of the Bamasaba community, their perspective is that the assistance should extend to all landslide victims across Masabaland who have been resettled in Bunambutye. This broader distribution would ensure that the pledge benefits the larger community of survivors.

The 20 cows were officially handed over to the Woman Member of Parliament for Bulambuli District, Hon. Irene Muloni, at 3:00 a.m. today. The gesture underscores the government’s commitment to addressing the needs of disaster-affected communities and supporting their recovery and resilience.

The resettlement camp in Bunambutye has become a symbol of hope for families displaced by landslides, and initiatives like these reinforce the solidarity between leaders and the people they serve.
