Police hunt driver for knocking juvenile dead in Hoima

Hoima: The territorial police of Hoima are tracing for the owner of the vehicle registration number UAZ 517 Z Toyota Alex Brown in color that knocked a juvenile dead.
Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine Regional Police Spokesperson, has identified the deceased as Catherine Kwikiriza, a 7-year-old resident of Kyamukunjuki in Hoima district.
According to Hakiza, the incident happened on Monday, May 27, 2024, in Kyamukunjuki along the Hoima-Buseruka road.
Hakiza explained that the deceased was crossing the road at the Kyamukunjuki trading center when the speeding vehicle knocked her and she died on the spot.
The regional police mouthpiece told our reporter on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, that the yet-to-be identified driver of the above vehicle, after knocking on Kwikiriza, now deceased, didn’t stop, but after driving some kilometers away from the scene of the crime, he abandoned the vehicle by the roadside and ran away.
He states that efforts to hurt the suspect are on, and once arrested, he will be charged with murder. The vehicle was towed to Hoima Central Police, where it’s currently parked.
