Masindi: In the efforts to boost the education sector in Masindi district, leaders and stakeholders have teamed up to support and reward the government-aided pupils who performed well in the recently released Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) results.

Dr. Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi, Vice Chairman, Patriotic League of Uganda, In Charge of Western Region, has donated 16 mattresses to the best 16 government-aided pupils.

He also pledged to offer full scholarships to all government-aided pupils who will score 4 aggregates in this year’s PLE.

Among those to be rewarded are Kamurungi Jeirah Christopher, who scored 5 aggregate, Ovon Pascal, Wamaani Chrispas, Baraka Victor, Aganyira Jonna, Talemwa Sharf, Tumwesige Godwin, and Sworo Sam. Asobora Paddy, Ayebale Christin, Mungubitimo Bairon, and Asobora Jessy Aganyira Jonnah, among others.

Balaam, however, expressed his disappointment with the district officials who have been fighting and halting the district service commission.

He noted that this has affected the services of the district commission, mostly in the recruitment of workers, especially teachers.

Barugahara called upon everyone to join hands in boosting the education sector in Masindi and desists from any act of fighting as this will lag the district behind in terms of development.

According to Emmy Ngabirano, the Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Masindi applauded Dr. Barugahara for his glorious contribution towards the transformation of the district.

Ngabirano disclosed that the best performers will be rewarded on February 14, 2024, at Kinumi Primary School in Buruli County, as the district will be celebrating the belated NRA/NRM liberation day.

He called upon whoever was in a position to do the same in the fight of transforming Masindi to buy the relief.

Meanwhile, Cosmas Byaruhanga, the Masindi District LCV Chairman, called upon all the pupils to pull up their stockings and grab this chance donated by Dr. Barugahara for their own benefit.

Recently, Byaruhanga disclosed that a number of teachers have retired from services and need replacement.

He noted that since the district service commission will soon resume working, they will first prioritize recruiting teachers.
