Masindi: ENCOT Microfinance Ltd has extended support to the Masindi Muslim community by donating essential food items to aid them during the holy month of Ramadan.
The donation, worth Shs1.5 million, included matooke, packed water, bananas, rice, meat, cooking oil, and other foodstuffs. The items were handed over Thursday morning at Masjidi Ttaq-Wa and Masindi Town Mosque.
While delivering the donation, Francis Walungama, the Marketing Officer at ENCOT Microfinance Ltd, emphasized the company’s commitment to giving back to the community.
“We decided to extend this assistance to the Muslim community as a way of supporting them during the Ramadan season. We have always given back to the community and will continue to do so,” Walungama stated.
He also urged other organizations and companies to support the Muslim community during Ramadan.
Swalleh Nkojo, the Imam of Masjidi Ttaq-Wa Mosque, revealed that they had reached out to ENCOT seeking support for Ramadan, and he applauded the microfinance institution for their positive response.
He further encouraged fellow Muslims to share whatever little they have with others during this sacred period.
Sheikh Yahaya Ssozi Abdunoor, the Chairperson of Masindi Town Mosque, expressed gratitude for the donation, stating that Islam promotes the act of giving.
“This support is in line with Islamic teachings. We prepare food at the mosque every day during Ramadan, and this donation will go a long way in helping us serve the fasting community,” Sheikh Ssozi said.
The donation is expected to ease the burden of many fasting Muslims in Masindi, ensuring they have meals for Iftar and Suhoor.
