Pastor, two others arrested over murder
The suspects admitted to kidnapping and subsequently killing the victims.
Ntungamo: Police in Ntungamo district have detained three suspects, including a female apostle, in connection with the alleged murder of a woman and a toddler, Amon Muhumuza writes.
The suspects, identified as Apostle Jenifer Nuwahereza, Alex Mutesigensi, and Innocent Namanya, are accused of strangling the victims and dumping their bodies in a water body.
The victims were identified as Ariho Elijah, a toddler aged one year and ten months, a resident of Omukibare Cell, Kibingo Parish, Nyakyera Sub-county, and Mellon Ainembabazi, a resident of Nyakishenyi Sub-county in Rukungiri district.
It is alleged that on 6th of this month 2024, at about 12:00 PM, Ms. Create Nankunda, after the search of her child, reported the case of kidnapping of her child, Ariho Eliajah, to Ntungamo CPS.
Police arrested the innocent Namanya, his wife Jenifer Nuwahereza, and Alex Mutesigensi for interrogation.
The police investigation revealed that the suspects admitted to kidnapping and subsequently killing the victims and dumped the bodies in the waters of Kanyehunde in Nyarwanya cell, Rubaare-subcounty.
The suspects led the team of police led by Mr. Nelson Nsimire, assistant detective police Ntungamo CPS, at the crime scene and retrieved the bodies for postmortem examination.
The case of murder was registered at Ntungamo CPS vide Number CRB 1341/2024, and inquiries are ongoing to establish the cause of the heinous act.
