Pader grapples with inadequate fuel for ambulance

He stressed hat the allocated funds for ambulance fuel are typically exhausted within two weeks, despite the high number of health emergencies in the district.

Pader: The leadership of Pader District has expressed concerns over the inadequate funding for ambulance fuel, with the government providing only two million shillings per quarter.

This issue was highlighted by the Pader District Vice Chairperson, Hon. Ocen Justin, in an interview with this publication. Hon. Ocen noted that the allocated funds for ambulance fuel are typically exhausted within two weeks, despite the high number of health emergencies in the district.

Additionally, he mentioned that Pajule Health Center IV is struggling with an insufficient maternity ward, which can accommodate only two expectant mothers at a time, leading to severe overcrowding.

He also pointed out the irregular drug supply by the National Drugs Authority, stating that they have received only one cycle of drugs instead of the expected four since July 2023.

These concerns were brought to light during the Regional Quality Improvement Review Meeting for the Acholi subregion, hosted by Pader District. The review, an initiative by Gulu Regional Referral Hospital, focused on health services and facilities.
