P7 candidates warned against examination malpractices

The PLE will proceed with mathematics and social studies papers scheduled for Wednesday, followed by science and English on Thursday.

Masindi: The Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) are set to begin tomorrow in Uganda, and students, parents, and educators in Masindi District have been urged to maintain integrity during the examination period.

During dedication prayers for Primary Seven candidates at Walyoba Brilliant Primary School in Miirya Sub County, Rwenzori Regional Police Community Liaison Officer ASP Solomon Mugisa advised candidates against engaging in examination malpractice, warning that it could have lasting negative effects on their future.

ASP Mugisa encouraged the candidates to rely on their preparation and the guidance of their teachers. He also urged parents to protect their children from activities that might put them at risk during the long holiday break, citing concerns over issues like defilement and disappearances, which can sometimes result from a lack of parental oversight.

The dedication service featured other community leaders who reinforced the importance of discipline and trust in God. Venerable Reverend Francis Kajura of Masindi Archdeaconry  emphasized the value of faith in achieving success.

School administrators expressed confidence in their candidates’ readiness. Job Kaheru, director of Walyoba Brilliant Primary, noted the strong cooperation between parents and the school, which helped in preparing the students well.

Esther Apadeti, head teacher at Masindi Model Primary School, echoed similar sentiments, although she noted some parents had been less supportive.

Lawrence Byarugaba, the director of St. Lawrence Nursery and Primary, told this publication that all learners are prepared for final exams since they have had enough revisions and the syllabus was completed in time.

Robina Atugonza, the Deputy Head Teacher for Kabalega Primary School, asks parents and guardians to support their children during the examination period.

Lucy Nyangoma, the head teacher of St. Michael Primary School in Kinogozi, who declined to be recorded, said they have prepared their learners, completed the syllabus, done enough revisions, and their learners are ready to sit for their final exams.

The PLE will proceed with mathematics and social studies papers scheduled for Wednesday, followed by science and English on Thursday.
