Over 3,000 congregants expected at St. Luke Church consecration next week

Kitgum: Over 3,000 congregants are expected to attend the consecration and handover of St. Luke Church, scheduled for next Saturday, February 15th, 2025, at Pachua Pakuba in Mucwini West Subcounty, Kitgum District.
This announcement was made by Mr. Okumu Amos Awira, Chairperson of the Central Organizing Committee for the event, during the 8th preparation meeting held on Thursday, February 6th, 2025, at the church site.
According to Mr. Awira, the committee is fully prepared to welcome devoted Christian believers on Friday, February 14th, ahead of the event. Invitation letters have already been sent regionally, nationally, and internationally.

Maj Gen (Ret.) Fred Tolit Ociti, who, along with his family, built the church, stated that they are in the final stages of completing the house of God. Final painting will begin over the weekend, along with furnishing the latrine and setting up the altar, as prescribed by the Church of Uganda.
He also noted that they are more than prepared to accommodate a larger crowd than initially planned, with attendees expected from Acholi, Lango, West Nile, Central Uganda, and the Diaspora.
The Most Rev. Archbishop Stephen Kazimba Mugalu, Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, will officiate the commissioning of the church.
Several religious leaders and government dignitaries have confirmed their attendance, and Acholi singers, including Kiddy Face, Romeo Odong, and OJ Murugut, are expected to provide entertainment ahead of St. Janani Luwum Day.
Maj Gen (Rtd.) Fred Tolit Ociti is a retired military officer of the UPDF, originally from Pachua Pakuba, Mucwini West Subcounty, Kitgum District, in the Northern Region of Uganda. He served in the military for over 40 years, including as a Defence Attaché in Tanzania, New York (USA), Ethiopia, Burundi, and South Africa, among others.
