Over 2,000 attend Bamasaaba Cultural Symposium in Mbale

He expressed deep gratitude to his people and international guests, acknowledging their presence and support.

Mbale: Thousands of Bamasaaba from across Uganda and beyond gathered in Mbale City last Saturday to celebrate the second coronation anniversary of His Highness the Umukuka III, Jude Mike Mudoma. The event, held in the heart of Bugisu, was marked by cultural pride, unity, and international representation.

According to Steven Masiga, the spokesperson of the Bugisu Cultural Institution, the event attracted over 2,000 attendees, including clan chairmen, local leaders, and guests from overseas.

In his address, His Highness the Umukuka expressed deep gratitude to his people and international guests, acknowledging their presence and support.

Notable attendees included Rev. Dr. Zagery from the United States, Dr. Monday Akubuokwu, Dr. Francis Nora, Rev. Vandolin, Senator Maya Rumantin, Esther Ibanga, and Joseph Mwila from Zambia, among others.

“Distinguished brothers and sisters, esteemed leaders, and honoured friends, I am humbled and energized by your presence at today’s symposium,” said His Highness. He emphasized the importance of solidarity, cultural identity, and unity among the Bamasaaba and their friends across the globe.

The Umukuka also extended his appreciation to the Government of Uganda for its support, especially saluting the Minister of State for Gender, who represented President Yoweri Museveni at the event.

Several international guests took to the podium to express their admiration for the cultural institution and its leadership. Dr. Okon Jean Louis from Cameroon applauded the Umukuka’s efforts in promoting unity and integration within the kingdom.

Rev. Dr. Zagery Oliver from the United States praised His Highness for his powerful and visionary leadership. Sharing a personal connection, Dr. Zagery said, “I am an African because my ancestors were unfortunately shipped as slaves to the United States and the Caribbean about 400 years ago.”

Joseph Mwila from Zambia extended thanks to the Umukuka for his warm hospitality, while Esther Ibanga from the Ignite House of Worship in Nigeria commended the Umukuka for his deep love for his people. She concluded her speech by saying, “God bless Uganda, Nigeria, Zambia, Indonesia, America, and Africa. Our collective flags make a beautiful tapestry.”

Meanwhile, all Bamasaaba clan chairmen praised His Highness for his capable leadership and pledged their unwavering support. They wished him a long and prosperous reign as he continues to lead the Bamasaaba people.
