‘’Office of the President victimized me for fighting land grabbers,‘’ former RDC Mucunguzi claims

He thanked President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for the opportunity to work with him in his office for ten years.

Ntungamo: The recently dropped Ntungamo Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Mr. Geoffrey Mucunguzi, has accused the Office of President (Minister for Presidency) of victimizing him over the fight against oppressors, corrupt government officials, and land grabbers in Ntungamo district.

According to Mr. Mucunguzi, whom he said are too strong and embedded in the system.

While addressing the media on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, Mr. Mucunguzi noted that the recent shuffle that saw him dropped alone in the over 80 RDCs and deputy RDCs in the western region was instigated by the people he fought against while executing his duties, especially those who wanted to oppress locals who were vulnerable and helpless.

He noted that several times, the same people tried hard to have him prosecuted under dubious allegations and wanted him dismissed but failed until the end of last month’s reshuffle that saw him dropped from the list of RDCs.

‘’For several times, the same people tried hard to have me prosecuted under dubious allegations and wanted me dismissed but failed until the end of last month’s reshuffle that saw me dropped from the list of RDCs,’’ he stressed.

We couldn’t get a comment from the Minister for Presidency, Milly Babalanda by the time of publication.

Earlier, Mr. Mucunguzi, had dismissed the allegations of being dropped due to involvement in land disputes, claiming that they were attempts aimed at blackmailing him by those who wanted to seize public land.

‘’The owner of an online publication that claimed that I have been fired by the president is blackmailing me because I chased them away from Kyangara playground, trying to grab it from a poor lady from Kafunjo in the same district.’’

He also went ahead and said, ‘’The good thing is that the public knows very well that I have been a leader who was fighting corruption, theft, and criminality and pledged to keep working for the NRM party and government, whether deployed or not, because I have served God’s people,’’ he said.

He thanked President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for the opportunity to work with him in his office for ten years.

Mucunguzi’s career trajectory has been diverse; he started as a teacher and later served as deputy RDC in various districts, including Kisoro, Kasese, Kiryandongo, and Kabarole. Ultimately, he was appointed as the full RDC for Ntungamo.

His replacement, Isaiah Kanyamahane, previously held the position of RDC in Kamwenge and also served as a deputy in Ntungamo prior to Mucunguzi’s tenure.
