NUP elects new leadership in Kiryandongo

Kiryandongo: The National Unity Platform (NUP) in Kiryandongo District has elected new leaders to strengthen the party’s structures from the grassroots to the top.
The elections, held on Wednesday at Happy Stay Restaurant Gardens in Kiryandongo Town Council, saw Margret Nabachwa elected as the district chairperson, with Kizza Jaber as her vice chairman.
Dr. Kanabi Moses, the National Coordinator from NUP’s secretariat in Kampala, emphasized the importance of hard work and discipline in serving both the district and the country. He also urged the newly elected leaders to actively combat corruption in all institutions.
“You should work hard, be disciplined in serving the district and the country, and ensure you fight corruption in all institutions,” he stated.
The newly elected leadership team includes Opio Walter as district general secretary and Alinaitwe Rogers as publicity secretary. Alinaitwe is also aspiring to represent the Kibanda North constituency in Parliament.
The district’s two constituencies, Kibanda North and Kibanda South, have been assigned new leadership, with Agaba Denis and Kawangunzi Majid elected as chairpersons, respectively.
Nabachwa expressed gratitude to the party members for entrusting her with the leadership role.
“I’m truly grateful to the party members for their trust and confidence in me,” she said.
