Notorious gang leader arrested in Kiryandongo
While Komugumu is in custody, five other suspects remain at large, and security forces have intensified efforts to apprehend them.
Kiryandongo: Komugumu Sunday, a resident of Bweyale Town Council, was arrested by security forces in Kiryandongo District after being implicated as the leader of a notorious gang responsible for multiple criminal activities in the area.
His arrest follows an incident last week in which Komugumu and his gang stole a firearm from a UPDF soldier in Bweyale Town Council.
Reports indicate that Komugumu and his accomplices had been terrorizing the local population, engaging in robberies, and stealing money, mobile phones, and other valuables from residents.
The community had been living in constant fear due to the gang’s criminal activities, but after a thorough search and intelligence gathering, security personnel were able to track down Komugumu, leading to his capture in the early hours of Thursday morning.
While Komugumu is in custody, five other suspects remain at large, and security forces have intensified efforts to apprehend them. Residents of Bweyale Town Council are relieved by Komugumu’s arrest and hope it will bring an end to the gang’s reign of terror that had plagued the area.
The community, along with local authorities, remains hopeful that more proactive measures will be taken to curb the surge in criminal activities.
