NFA officials shoot man dead over charcoal in Kikuube
Following the incident, an angry mob set their motorcycle on fire, and efforts are underway to apprehend the suspects.

Kikuube: Police in Kikuube District are investigating a fatal shooting incident that occurred in Rwenkobe Village, Kaseeta Parish, Kabwoya Sub-County, where 50-year-old Ronald Munyanzonza was shot dead.
Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson, informed journalists on Monday that the incident occurred on Sunday around 12:30 pm, when officials from the National Forestry Authority (NFA) shot Munyanzonza and injured his 23-year-old son, Bosco Twikunda, in the leg.
Hakiza explained that the incident began when an NFA team found five sacks of charcoal at the deceased’s house. The team ordered Munyanzonza to load the charcoal onto their vehicle, suspecting that the trees used to make the charcoal were from Bugoma Forest. However, Munyanzonza refused, insisting that the charcoal came from his own trees in the forest reserve.
The police mouthpiece stated that when Munyanzonza refused to comply, the NFA officials opened fire, killing him on the spot and injuring his son. Twikunda is currently receiving treatment at Kyangwali Health Center IV.
The suspects, who are believed to be members of the NFA enforcement team, are still at large. Following the incident, an angry mob set their motorcycle on fire, and efforts are underway to apprehend the suspects.
