Ndibwami clinches NRM flag in Kagadi LCV race

“Now is the time for unity. Let us work together and maintain our strength as a party,” Mpoza said.

Kagadi: Incumbent Kagadi District LCV Chairperson, Ndibwami B. Yosia, has secured the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party flag for the 2026 general elections, following a tightly contested primary held on Thursday.

The results were announced at approximately 1:00 AM on Friday at ARU Multipurpose Hall by Patrick Mbasiima, the NRM District Registrar for Kagadi.

Ndibwami emerged victorious with 46,028 votes, defeating three rivals Elly Gard Tumusiime got 34,528 votes, Amara Peter secured 29,848 votes and Mugisa Peter Ssebugwawo garnered 3,543 votes.

Registrar Mbasiima commended the peaceful and democratic nature of the election, applauding both the candidates and the voters for their participation.

In his victory speech, Ndibwami thanked the people of Kagadi for their continued trust and support, attributing his win to his track record in service delivery and a visionary manifesto for the 2026–2031 term.

“This victory is not mine alone it belongs to the people of Kagadi,” he said.

“I will continue to serve with dedication and humility, and I call upon all my fellow contenders to unite for the sake of our district’s development.”

Despite coming second, Elly Gard Tumusiime has vowed to contest in the general elections as an independent candidate, citing alleged irregularities during the primaries.

He did not elaborate on the specific issues but said he would soon release a formal statement.

Meanwhile, Erukana Karungi Mpoza, the NRM Chairperson for Kagadi District, congratulated Ndibwami and urged all former contenders to rally behind him to ensure the NRM retains the seat in the general election.

“Now is the time for unity. Let us work together and maintain our strength as a party,” Mpoza said.

Ndibwami’s win places him in a strong position to seek re-election in 2026, as he continues to consolidate support across Kagadi.
