Mutanje contributes UGX 10 million towards Inzuyamasaba radio station
He pledged to support efforts to have the station operational by next year.
Mbale: Hon. Emmanuel Mutanje, the newly appointed Minister for Investments and Entrepreneurship Development in the Bamasaba Kingdom, has contributed UGX 10 million towards the establishment of the Inzuyamasaba radio station.
This development was confirmed by Mr. Steven Masiga, the spokesperson of Inzuyamasaba, who described the donation as a significant step in realizing the vision of the cultural leader, His Highness Jude Mike Mudoma.
The radio station, a flagship project of the Bamasaba cultural institution, aims to promote the preservation and education of traditional practices and customs of the Bamasaba people.
The fundraising drive, which took place at Mbale Resort Hotel on December 27, was attended by prominent Bamasaba figures from Uganda and the diaspora.
Notable attendees included: Her Lordship Catherine Khakasa Bamugemeirire, Justice of the Supreme Court of Uganda, Hon. Michael Materesi, President of the Bamasaba Association (IMKA) in the United Kingdom, Hon. Professor Florence Wakoko, Inzuyamasaba Ambassador to Canada and the United States, who addressed the audience via Zoom from the United States.
Others are the Members of Parliament led by their caucus chairperson, Hon. Wanda amd Chief Administrative Officers from districts like Wakiso, Rukungiri, Kyotera, Mayuge, and Namisindwa.
During the event, Hon. Mutanje emphasized the importance of the radio station in fostering cultural education and broadcasting government programs to Masabaland and beyond.
He pledged to support efforts to have the station operational by next year.
About Hon. Emmanuel Mutanje
Hon. Mutanje hails from Bududa District and has a strong background in business and politics. He previously served as a political assistant to the late James Wapakhabulo, Uganda’s former Speaker of Parliament and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Despite receiving numerous requests to contest as a Member of Parliament, Mutanje has opted to focus on his investments and service to the Bamasaba cultural institution.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from the Islamic University in Uganda, a master’s degree, and an honorary doctorate. His businesses span Kampala, Mbale, and other regions.
Fundraising Progress
Mr. Steven Masiga revealed that the project requires UGX 1 billion to be fully operational. So far, UGX 100 million has been raised in cash and pledges.
The radio station is expected to strengthen the Bamasaba cultural institution’s programs while supporting government initiatives in the region.
