MP Musana hails NRM achievements as Uganda marks 40 years of liberation

Kagadi: The Buyaga East Member of Parliament, Eric Musana, has highlighted infrastructural development and sustained peace as some of the most visible and celebrated achievements of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government since it assumed power in 1986.
Musana made the remarks this afternoon in an interview with this publication as Uganda marked the 40th National Liberation Anniversary.
National celebrations were held at Kololo Independence Grounds under the theme, “A Tribute to the Patriots Who Ushered in the Fundamental Change.”
The legislator noted that the NRM government has maintained peace and political stability over the decades, which has laid a strong foundation for socio-economic transformation across the country.
He commended the government for major developments in road infrastructure, electricity distribution, water access, as well as improvements in the education and health sectors, describing them as key milestones in national development.
According to Musana, the peace ushered in by the NRM government has created a conducive environment for investment, significantly contributing to economic growth and improved livelihoods.
However, the MP faulted some government officials for what he described as reluctance in implementing key government policies, a situation he said has negatively affected service delivery in several sectors.
Meanwhile, the Kagadi District Youth League Chairperson, Pascal Natamba, also credited the government for expanding service delivery, particularly in health and education.
He cited poverty alleviation programs such as the Parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga as initiatives that have helped improve household incomes and livelihoods.
Natamba urged young people to remain focused and avoid being misled by what he termed as political opportunists who downplay the achievements of the NRM government for personal gain.
In a similar vein, Mzee Kakookoza Yokoyada, an 80-year-old businessman and resident of Muhumbu Cell in Kagadi Town Council, praised the NRM government for restoring peace and improving the living standards of ordinary citizens.
He recalled that before the NRM came to power, housing conditions were poor and essential goods such as clothing were scarce.
He noted that the government’s investments in the transport sector and increased production of essential commodities have greatly improved the wellbeing of the population.
