Missing Masindi man beheaded, body dumped in sugarcane plantation

Masindi: Fear and shock has gripped residents of Katugo Village in Kiruli Sub County Masindi district after sugarcane cutters discovered the body of a man beheaded and reportedly some body parts missing.
The body was found on Thursday by cane cutters inside the sugar cane block 17 at Katugo sugarcane apartment in Kinyara Sugarcane Limited, about 5 meters from the fire lines.
The deceased has been identified as Ismail Naado, a 31-year-old businessman and a resident of Kirasa 1 cell in Central Division Masindi Municipality.
Edward Aguuda, the LC3 Chairperson for Kiruli Sub County, told this publication that he was informed by the LC1 Chairperson for Katugo Village about the matter.
‘’The body was discovered by cane cutters in the sugarcane plantation; it was beheaded, and this prompted me to inform the police, who rushed to the scene and conveyed it to Masindi Hospital Mortuary,’’ he explains.
Hamza Kabaka, the LC1 Chairperson for Kirasa 1 Cell, explains to ugreports.co.ug that the deceased went missing last week on Tuesday, and they have been searching for him.
He narrated that after getting the information, he informed the residents who went to the mortuary and identified the body.
Masenge Mitwalebi, the deceased’s cousin brother, stresses that Naado hired a motorcycle last week on Tuesday and went to the field as usual but went missing.
He narrates that as they were planning to report the matter to police, residents informed them how a man had been beheaded and his body brought to Masindi Hospital mortuary.
‘’Upon arrival, we identified him because he had marks on his toes and fingers and the clothes he wore that day he went missing. I’m appealing to security to investigate the matter and hold the culprits accountable,’’ he adds.
Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson, confirmed the matter. He said a homicide team, led by OC CID D/ASP Ochiti Simon, proceeded to the scene, retrieved the body, and took it to Masindi Hospital for postmortem examination and possible identification.
Hakiza said that efforts are underway to trace the perpetrators behind this heinous crime and establish the motive. ‘’We are also searching for the hired motorcycle, registration number UFQ 670 IU TVS star, belonging to Muganizi Amon of Kirima cell, Karujubu division,’’ he adds.
The police mouthpiece appeals to the community members to provide information regarding this murder to ensure that the perpetrators are prosecuted.
