Minister Balaam lobbies 50 wheelchairs from Kinyara Sugar Ltd

He noted that persons with disabilities require increased support not only from Kinyara Sugar but also from other willing individuals and organizations.

Masindi: The Minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs, Dr. Balaam Barugahara, has successfully lobbied for the donation of 50 wheelchairs from Kinyara Sugar Limited.

The wheelchairs were recently delivered, with the official handover ceremony held at Radio 7 headquarters in Northern Cell, Masindi Municipality.

The donation was led by Kinyara Sugar Executive Director, Mr. Ramalingam Ravi, accompanied by the company’s Agriculture Manager, Mr. Senthil Kumar. They were warmly received by the Radio 7 Resident Director, Hon. Robert Akugizibwe, who represented the Minister.

Speaking shortly after the handover, Mr. Ramalingam Ravi said the donation was made in response to a request from Hon. Dr. Balaam Barugahara, who appealed to Kinyara Sugar to support vulnerable people in need of mobility assistance.

He expressed gratitude to the Minister for his continued support and the strong partnership Kinyara Sugar has maintained with him over the years.

The company’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Francis Mugerwa, also appreciated the opportunity provided by the Minister to give back to the community.

He noted that persons with disabilities require increased support not only from Kinyara Sugar but also from other willing individuals and organizations.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the Minister, Hon. Robert Akugizibwe commended Hon. Balaam Barugahara for his visionary leadership and commitment to lobbying resources aimed at improving the welfare of the people.

“These wheelchairs will be donated to needy families in the district,” Akugizibwe said.

He further applauded Kinyara Sugar management for their continued generosity and concern for the community, and called upon other companies to emulate the same spirit of corporate social responsibility.
