Minister Balaam asked to address youth problems
Minister Oryem said Dr. Balaam is still young and has been working towards improving the livelihood of the youth, so they should work with him.
Masindi: The Prime Minister of Uganda, Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, has asked the minister for children and youth affairs. Dr. Balaam Barugahara to address the challenges the youth are facing.
She was speaking as a chief guest on Monday during the Thanksgiving ceremony for the appointment of Dr. Balaam as the minister held at Booma Grounds in Masindi town.
Nabbanja congratulated Dr. Balaam on his appointment as the minister for children and youth affairs and urged him to engage directly with the youth, identify their struggles, and find solutions.
‘’Don’t sit in the office; go to the field and identify the challenges the youth are facing, identify their struggles, and find solutions.’’
It’s commendable that Sarah Nyirabashitsi Mateke, the former minister for children and youth affairs, is willing to pass on her files to Dr. Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi. By doing so, she ensures continuity and a seamless transition.
Dr. Balaam can now build upon the groundwork laid by his predecessor and address the challenges faced by the youth.
Dr. Balaam asked the youth to desist from destructive acts like alcoholism, theft, early marriages, and corruption and invest their money in developmental projects.

Minister Balaam disclosed that he will tackle youth unemployment and initiate skilling projects at the regional level, adding that his commitment extends to fighting corruption and creating opportunities for the young population.
The State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Henry Oryem Okello, encourages the people of Bunyoro to collaborate with Dr. Balaam, saying his youth-centric approach and energy make him an asset in improving livelihoods.

The Thanksgiving ceremony was attended by members of parliament from Bunyoro and other regions and ministers, including Matia Kasaija, the finance minister, Fred Byabakama, the state minister for works, the state minister for public service, Grace Mary Mugasa, and others.
