Masindi’s best PLE performer scores five aggregates

She added that several other candidates scored aggregates of 6, 7, 8, and 9.

Masindi: Akwetereiho Innocent, a candidate from Kinyara Sugar Works Primary School in Kabango Town Council, has emerged as the best performer in the 2024 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) in Masindi district and Municipality, with an exceptional score of five aggregates.

Monica Kiiza, the Acting District Education Officer (DEO) for Masindi District Local Government, confirmed the news, stating that while the overall district results are still under review, Akwetereiho’s performance remains unmatched.

She added that several other candidates scored aggregates of 6, 7, 8, and 9.

Kiiza also highlighted an improvement in the district’s performance compared to last year, although the complete results are yet to be released.

According to the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), boys outperformed girls in Division One, with 45,203 boys and 39,098 girls achieving this top grade.

However, girls excelled in Divisions Two, Three, and Four due to their higher candidate numbers.

Boys accounted for 47.5% (378,709) of the total candidates while girls made up 52.5% (418,750).

Girls excelled in English while boys outperformed in Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies, a recurring trend.

English was noted as the least successfully tackled subject overall. 6,141 girls and 28,110 boys were ungraded.

The total number of candidates in Division One slightly declined from 86,582 in 2023 to 84,301 in 2024, meanwhile, 397,589 candidates got first grade, 165,284 got third grade, 75,556 got fourth grade and 64,251 were ungraded thus will need to repeat Primary Seven.

Despite a reduction in Distinctions, UNEB’s Executive Director, Daniel Odong, highlighted an improved pass rate of 91.8% in 2024 compared to 88.0% in 2023.
