‘’It’s true we have her in our custody; however, I’m yet to get her particulars,'' he confirmed.

Masindi: Police in Masindi district are holding a woman for refusing to be enumerated.

The suspect, Sarah Kyogondeze, a resident of Kisoga Cell in Bulima Town Council in Bujenje Constituency, is currently detained at Masindi Central Police Station.

Kyogondeze allegedly refused to be enumerated, claiming that she was already counted and registered by God in heaven.

Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine Regional Police Spokesperson, confirmed the arrest of Kyogondeze and said that he had yet to get the particulars.

‘’It’s true we have her in our custody; however, I’m yet to get her particulars,” he confirmed.

Emmy Ngabirano, the Resident District Commissioner for Masindi, disclosed that, apart from Kyogondeze’s incidence, enumerators haven’t encountered major obstacles.

‘’Apart from the Bulima incident, we haven’t registered major obstacles during the exercise.’’

He, however, appealed to the public to embrace the exercise and share the right information with enumerators.

Gerald Komugisa, the Masindi district population officer, also doubling as the census supervisor, said that they have registered minor obstacles mainly in Bulima, Nyangahya, and Kijura, where individuals declined to be enumerated.

He clarified that the individual in Nyangahya accepted to be emurated after counseling, then the one in Kijura had been enumerated before, while the third case of Bulima has been detained.

‘’We have so far registered three minor cases; two were solved while the issue of Bulima is being handled by the police,” he noted.

Komugisa disclosed that the exercise is moving on smoothly, saying that most enumerators are at 45% and he is optimistic they will be at 100% coverage on day nine.
