Masindi Municipal Council Town Clerk in trouble for removing Covid-19 sticker on government vehicle
He maintained that he would not reinstate the sticker, insisting that it makes him feel insecure when using the vehicle outside Masindi.
Masindi: The Town Clerk of Masindi Municipal Council, Daniel Kasala, is facing criticism after removing a Covid-19 sticker from a government vehicle that was donated to the municipality during the pandemic.
Councilor Robert Akugizibwe, who represents Kijura in Masindi Municipal Council, spoke to this publication, expressing concern over Kasala’s actions.
According to Akugizibwe, when Kasala was posted to Masindi, he immediately removed the distinguishing Masindi Municipality sticker from the vehicle. This sticker had been placed on the vehicle to differentiate it from those belonging to other districts and municipalities.
“We have yet to understand his intentions for removing the sticker from the vehicle,” said Akugizibwe. “This act undermines the Ministry of Health’s decision,” he emphasized.
Richard Alinaitwe also criticized the town clerk for removing the sticker, stating that the council has now resolved that Kasala must reinstate it.
Masindi Municipality Mayor, Ronald Busiinge Kyomuhendo, told ugreports.coug that Kasala removed the sticker citing security concerns. However, the mayor has demanded that Kasala justify his reasons for this action.
On the other hand, Masindi Municipal Council Speaker Tadeo Opio expressed that, given Kasala’s security justification for removing the sticker, he has no objection.#
He noted that vehicles are easily identified using their number plates and urged councilors to focus on matters affecting their constituents.
When contacted for comment, Town Clerk Daniel Kasala maintained that he would not reinstate the sticker, insisting that it makes him feel insecure when using the vehicle outside Masindi.
